Children’s Program
Library Club
Library Club is an after-school story time for elementary age children, Kindergarten – 5th grade. It is held throughout the school year on Thursdays 3:15 – 4:00 p.m. It includes stories and a craft.
Preschool Storytime
Preschool Storytime for 3 to 6 year olds is held on Thursdays 11:00 – 11:30 a.m. Stories, fingerplays, songs, action poems and crafts are included. A parent or caregiver is asked to stay in the program room with the child.
Summer Programs
Summer Reading Club is a six week summer program for elementary age children, which encourages recreational reading throughout the summer. Summer programs are also held for preschool, middle and high school ages.

Children of all ages are invited to use the library! In the Children’s Department you will find:

Summer Reading 2025 – Color Our World!
Summer Reading Rules for Preschool & K-5th Grade
If unable to attend on Thursdays, you may still read books from the library, keep track of the books you read on your reading record, and earn prizes.
Each Thursday, you are eligible to win a prize for the books you read the past week. If you have read at least 5 primary level books or at least 1 chapter JFIC book, you will receive the weekly prize. Don’t forget to read nonfiction books!
Parents may read books to nonreaders. Books must be from the Monon Public Library.
Summer Reading Rules for 5th – High School
The teens will read one book during the summer reading program which is chosen by the youth services librarian. They will discuss the book during the last meeting. Teens are encouraged to read more than just the assigned book!
